Japan 05/26 – Nara, Ikoma Skyland + Nachi Falls
Day 17 – Nara

Without it’s namesake amusement park these days, the city of Nara is best known to me for being overrun with deer. The buildings were a bonus.

Some people dare to feed, then regret.

It’s far safer to stick to just bowing.

Gardens were a bonus too.
On a hill between Nara and Osaka is Ikoma Skyland

This squirrel funicular takes you from the car park to the entrance.

And there it is.

Just the one coaster here, and not a particularly interesting one in #1 Spinning Coaster.

However the deal was sweetened with this dark ride discovery.

On the surface just another Senyo shooter.

However it was unintentionally hilarious, as the sound effect for hitting a couple of the big monsters was clearly just a man’s voice emulating slight pain in an amateur fashion.

Park is probably best celebrated for just the vantage points it provides though. There’s Osaka.

And here comes the rain.
Took a long drive down through the heart of Wakayama prefecture, half expecting another hair-raising journey like the main road to Kyoto.
The scenery was stunning, but the roads were of much better quality.

Even had some more bridges.
Nachi Falls

Following the trend of inconvenient tourism, the eventual destination was ‘closed’ upon arrival, but that doesn’t stop you from taking a wander.

Down some spooky stairs.

And there it is.

Tallest (year round, single uninterrupted drop) in Japan.

Further up the hill is some temple stuff.

So the game is to take a picture of different things with the falls in the background.

And to find the Celebi.
